Welcome to Day 4 of the 2nd Annual Romancing September Across The World Blog Tour. I’ve teamed up with Rosie Amber again this year. We’re promoting 30 awesome romance authors in 30 days. Help us out by cross promoting when you can and check out these authors.
Don’t forget to go over to Rosie Amber’s page and check out her page too. I’ll put the link at the bottom of this post.
Today my guest author is Lizzie Lamb and I want to thank her for blogging with me today. Here is a little about her and her book Boot Camp Bride.
- What inspired you to write this book?
I spend a great deal of time in north-west Norfolk and one day when I was sitting a bench overlooking the marshes the whole story unfolded before me. The heroine, Charlee, had been in my head for ages, begging me to write a novel about with her. As for the delicious, temperamental Rafa – well, how could I resist bringing him to life, too?
- What’s your favourite part of this book and why?
Hm. Difficult. I enjoyed writing the sparring dialogue between Rafa and Charlee so any of the times when they’re on the page together, really. But I especially enjoyed writing about the first night of their honeymoon when they park the campervan by the Coal Shed in Thornham Staithe because that is a real place and I often visit there and can imagine them in their classic VW Camper van.
- What is your philosophy on writing and life?
You only get out of life what you put into it. Life is not a rehearsal. I’ve waited a long time to become a published author and I don’t intend to squander a second of it. My target is to write six novels, God willing – three set in Scotland and three in Norfolk. Then I’ll think again and maybe turn to cosy crime. However, it also important to leave space in your life for friends and family, without them our lives are meaningless.
4) Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links
I’ve only written two so far: TALL, DARK AND KILTED http://t.co/xj2T54mE6j
and BOOTCAMP BRIDE http://t.co/0WkwlH8bgg. My third book, working title SCOTCH ON THE ROCKS, should be out in the new year.
- What are your goals for this year?
To stay fit and healthy so that I can finish my third novel and then maybe take a break for a month or so before beginning the next one. I want to continue to build and develop my ‘brand’, make a name as a writer and meet lots of lovely new readers.
- If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?
As far as ‘writerly advice’ goes I’d advise all the rookie writers out there to glue their derrieres to the seat, chain themselves to the desk and get writing. Don’t even begin to think about revisions until you’ve got one (very) rough draft of the novel. Leave it a week or so, if you can bear it, print it out and then slash and burn/and ‘kill your darlings’, editing on paper – not the screen – until you’ve got the bones of a well-crafted novel. I find at this stage it’s useful to write out the blurb before I begin the final edit(s) as it helps me to focus in on what the book is really ‘about’.
book bio/description
Take an up-for-anything reporter. Add a world-weary photo-journalist. Put them together . . . light the blue touch paper and stand well back! Posing as a bride-to-be, Charlee Montague goes undercover at a boot camp for brides in order to photograph supermodel Anastasia Markova. At Charlee’s side and posing as her fiancé, is Rafael Ffinch award winning photographer and survivor of a kidnap attempt in Colombia. He’s in no mood to cut inexperienced Charlee any slack and has made it plain that once the investigation is over, their partnership – and fake engagement – will be terminated, too. Soon Charlee has more questions than answers. What’s the real reason behind Ffinch’s interest in the boot camp? How is it connected to his kidnap in Colombia? In setting out to uncover the truth, Charlee puts herself in danger … As the investigation draws to a close, she wonders if she’ll be able to hand back the engagement ring and walk away from Rafa without a backward glance.

Thanks so much for joining us on this grand adventure we call Romancing September Across the World 2014 Blog Tour.
As always, good writing and May God Bless You…
Lizzie’s book are really fun to read and Boot Camp Bride was great, can’t wait for the next book.
Interesting what you said about ‘staying fit and healthy so you can finish your third’ – one thing that I am always scared of, when I am in the middle of a novel, is that something will happen to me so that I won’t be able to finish it!
I don’t print off, I do all my editing on screen, and do my final read before final draft on Kindle, as I don’t have paperbacks. The first 8 or 9 novels I wrote I did print off, but I managed, when I started writing for Kindle, to do the process on screen instead, and now I think I actually do it better than I would if I was doing revisions on paper, as I can change something, look at it, change it back, fiddle about with it, endlessly. But it’s all down to what suits you, isn’t it – I think it seems to be about half and half, between people who edit on screen , vs paper. Anyway – lovely interesting article, ladies! x
I so much liked what you said about life philosophy. Aren’t we twins somehow?
Best of luck to you!

Romancing September Across the World Day 4 with Stephanie Hurt…
That was a fun interview. This is the first time I came across Lizzie Lamb, so it was fun to learn more about her. The summary for “Boot Camp Bride” was interesting, and I am curious how things will turn out for Charlee and Rafael.
