Well, it is so weird to think I have been out of school for 25 years. I walked into the local airport hangar where the reunion was held. I grabbed my husband’s hand and said a prayer. I just hoped that some of my closer friends would be there. I tried to be friends with everyone, but you know how it goes, even 25 years later everyone still congregates in the old clicks.
I was greeted by a dear old friend. We were in school all 12 years together. It was a wonderful moment to see her. Then others walked up and I started to feel a little better. I was actually still on a high from finishing my 4th novel just a couple of hours before I arrived at the reunion.
My husband was supportive as usual. He leaned down and whispered, “We will stay as long as you want to. Just have fun.”
It turned out to be a great reunion. My best friend from school came in and we picked up where we left off. We giggled and talked so fast that our husband’s just sat and laughed at us. The funny thing is that we could be like we were in high school.
If you get a chance to go to a school reunion, don’t just throw that invitation away, go ahead and RSVP. Grab the moment and walk in with your head held high. Have fun and enjoy yourself. After 12 years of spending every day together, you deserve this.
Oh yeah, by the way, my husband laughed all the way home about the picture of me with the Farrah Fawcett hair that was brought up on the screen. You got to love the 80’s.
