It’s an exciting time when I finish a manuscript. But it can be an anxious time for an author. Usually when I turn in a manuscript, my heart begins to pound with excitement. The difference with the In Harm’s Way Series is that I haven’t felt the usual anxiety. I feel excitement about the finished manuscript.
These books have almost written themselves. They’ve been clear in my head and even when the words seemed lost, they came in like a flood. It’s been a fun ride while writing in this new genre. Adding the element of suspense and thriller has been exhilerating.
So, with that, Broken will be coming soon and I can’t wait for my readers to get lost in this story.

What an exciting evening for a cover reveal for STORM… As I write this post, a storm has just stopped here. And thank heavens it cooled things off a bit.
But now, on to the post I’ve been so excited to do. Storm is the 3rd book in the In Harm’s Way Series. With Broken coming out in a couple of weeks, it’s time to reveal the cover for book 3. This series has been such a rush of constant excitement and adrenaline pumping suspense that when I finish my daily writing session, I have to sit and take a breather.
Storm will be a fast paced book, so make sure to fasten your seatbelt and hold on. In the coming days I’ll be posting more on the blurb and characters, but for now I’ll just leave you with the entire cover. I know I only gave you a teaser before.
So, what do you think? Intense was my first thought when my cover designer finished with it. I couldn’t have asked for a better example of what this book will be like. And it will be a wild ride. But there is more to come. There will be five books in this series and they get wilder as the series builds.

We made it to Friday people… That mean’s the weekend is almost here. Only a few more hours…
This morning I’m working on the final scene for BROKEN. Let’s just say I’ve had chills and for just a moment I became a little over anxious. This final scene is like nothing I’ve written before. To say I’m excited doesn’t even explain how I feel.
The crazy part of the final scene has been the research. I can’t tell you much or it will give away too much. Let’s just say, my eyes have been darting around me, making sure that all is well. The building of suspense is growing quick and I can’t wait until this one is released so that my readers can get lost in this story. It’s been quite a ride.
What’s funny is, even though this book is suspenseful, the next one, STORM, will be a roller coaster of suspense as well. So, let’s get this done and move forward. Speaking of STORM, I’ll be doing the Cover Reveal Tomorrow. Keep watching…

Good Wednesday morning! We are halfway to the weekend… Are you ready?
As I sit here working on the last couple chapters of Broken, I’m looking forward to the weekend. It’s not that I have some exciting plans, but I do enjoy sitting longer with my coffee and sleeping in on the weekend.

Good morning! I’ve been writing romance for many years. It’s been a wild ride that’s for sure. But now that I’ve added suspense and crime thriller to my list… Let’s just say the ride has gotten wilder. There’s something about building a story that will take the reader on a roller coaster ride of thrills and chills.
Now, writing romance can take you on a wild ride. And when writing any genre, you need to carry your reader on a journey. But with a suspense or thriller novel, there’s another element. It’s the element of breathtaking suspense. The kind that leaves you not knowing what will happen next. It’s the excitement of building a case, then making sure there is a red herring at every corner.
Now, did I throw you for a loop with the ‘red herring’? In a suspense or crime thriller, the red herring is that piece of misleading information or evidence that leads the reader up the wrong path. To me, that’s the fun of the chase. If you give away your criminal or bad person right from the start, then you’ll lose the reader at that point. You have to keep them guessing right up until the end.
What’s fun is that I’ve fell into my own trap while writing these suspense novels. I have to make sure that in my outline, it’s clear who the red herring is and who the bad person is. Or I’ll fall for it too.

Good Monday morning! I hope your coffee is flowing freely. Now, as for my coffee enhanced thoughts, let’s talk about characters…
There are many different aspects of a character that you write. So, let’s get right into the conversation. Now, when you start a new story, you have to introduce your characters. But you can’t properly introduce them without knowing them. That’s where a good character write-up comes in.
With a character write-up, you need to get into as much detail as possible. Here are the different elements I put into mine.
This is only a couple of items, but you get the idea. I always leave plenty of room to add new things that come about as I write. It’s important to keep things the same. Readers notice if your main character has blond hair at the start, then dark hair in the middle.
Make sure that you keep a notebook for each work so that you can keep up with everything.
