Snow Day Today…

Good afternoon! It’s a cold, but beautiful day here in Georgia. We’re enjoying the snow,IMG_4015

which isn’t something we get to enjoy very much. I love to watch it snow, but it snowed while we slept, so I get to enjoy looking out at it.

Now, with a huge pot of chili simmering on the stove and a warm fire crackling in the fireplace, I’m sitting with my laptop, enjoying a rare mid-week writing time. At this time I’m normally elbow deep in accounting, but not today. It’s a rare treat which I’m getting to take part in.

So, what are you up to on this beautifully cold day?

As always, great writing and May God Bless You…

If I could go anywhere…

Good morning! It’s Saturday and sunny, but really cold here in Georgia. I was thinking about things on my bucket list. Do you have one? Come on, you know there’s something you’d like to do before you leave this place or maybe somewhere you’d like to go.

For me, I’ve always wanted to visit Switzerland. Even when I was young, I’d dream of the snow-capped alps and green meadows below. Once I wrote to the Swiss tourist bureau about a report I was doing on Switzerland. They sent me a whole package on the country. It was great as I went through all the pictures and pamphlets. I was in a dream world, for a while at least.

Well, since I did the research for my book, Tuscany, I’ve added that to my bucket list. As I researched the places and food in Tuscany, my heart was lost to it. Maybe one day I’ll brave a plane trip over there, but I don’t know. It’s nice to dream about it. Since I’m a writer, I can live through my characters. When I wrote Tuscany, I imagined being there. It took me away to another place. Once the book was at the end, I felt sad. So, yes another book set in Tuscany will be on the horizon, but probably for next year.

So, if you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…

Coming out of the fog!

This has been one of those weeks where you want to go back, hit rewind and have a do over!  Unfortunately, I caught the cold crud that’s been going around and have been in a fog since. Finally last night I was able to get more than a couple hours of sleep, which gave me a better morning.

When you’re a writer and in a brain fog, no words come out. It’s like they’re lost in the fog and no matter how hard you try, nothing comes out. Of course this hurt my daily word count, but believe me, if I would’ve written anything, especially in the last two days, it would have been unreadable.

Hopefully today will be a more productive day and I’ll soon be back to normal. Feeling a little more energy today, but the extra sleep helped.

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…

Don’t forget to get your copy of “Seaside Beginnings” on pre-order! It’s officially releasing on February 17th…

Burrrrr…Let’s talk romance

Well it’s cold here in Georgia. Actually cold doesn’t even begin to describe how it feels outside. I’ve set up my office in my den for the day. It’s just way too cold in my office, so when you get lemons you make lemonade, but here it would be a frozen lemonade. Think summer 🙂

So, let’s talk romance and try to get warm. The last couple of nights I’ve had my nose in my kindle reading. Some days I just want to read and not write. Of course this could be called research or practice. With sports figures they work out daily, but a writer needs to read daily. For me reading helps keep my mind working correctly. As you know I write romance, so I read a lot of romance. It’s like a inspirational time for me. As I read I think, yeah, I like the way this writer does this, or I think about what I didn’t like in the book and I try to avoid it in my own work.

As the temps continue to be below freezing I curl up in front of the fire with a romance to keep me warm. Currently I’m reading a Vampire series and it’s been pretty good so far. I love how the writer handles every situation. I’ve been so into the books that I don’t even realize I’m chilly.

But I’ve got to put the Kindle down and get back into my manuscripts in progress. Especially the one that’s going in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest. It’s in the final stages and I’m really excited about it. It’s a step away from my normal style writing, so I’m anxious to see how it’s received.

So, if you’re cold, pick up a romance and let the warmth spread through you. When you read about love it just has a warming affect on you. Go ahead and try it. If you need some good choices then go over to avonromance.com. They’ve got a great selection of romances to warm your heart and your toes.

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…

Laugh, it’s Friday!

Hello fellow bloggers. It’s Friday. Had you noticed? Did you forget? Well, I woke up and smiled. It’s Friday and the weekend officially starts in a couple of hours.

Have you laughed lately? I’m not talking about that snicker or pretend laugh when someone tells you a stupid joke. I’m talking about a outright, stomach clenching laugh. Well if you haven’t then try it. It helps you feel better. It clears the mind and makes way for positive thinking. Studies show that laughter helps people heal faster. I don’t know much about that, but I do know it helps you feel better.

As a children’s minister I laugh a lot. Children can just bring on laughter just being themselves. Sometimes I get to class on Wednesday or Sunday with a splitting headache and soon I’m feeling better. I contribute it to laughter.

Try to laugh today. Don’t take things so seriously. You only live once and you need to enjoy it. It also helps your writing and during November a lot of people are on a writing marathon. If you don’t have anything to laugh about, go to the internet and find a joke site or youtube video. See if you don’t feel better after you have that healthy side splitting laugh.

Well, as always, good writing, have a good laugh and May God always bless you!

For those in the north that are still having issues from Sandy, try to laugh. I know that you don’t have a lot to laugh about, but it couldn’t hurt to just laugh. It might give you some hope or extra energy. Not to mention it will warm your body against the cold. Praying for all of you!
