Friday Writing…

Good morning! It’s Friday and I’ve got a smile on my face. Do you?

I’m working on several manuscripts at the moment and sometimes they become a blur. They like to intermingle and try to confuse me, but then other times, they come together to make something incredible. Not that my writing is incredible, but the way words come together to form stories that take people away from their problems, away from their world for just a moment, it’s simply amazing.

As for my current works, here’s a little snippet from Lacey’s Choice:

Drake stood holding Lacey’s hand, his shaking a bit as she looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “Lacey will you marry me? I know it’s only been a couple of weeks, but when you know in your heart that the woman standing in front of you is your soul mate, then it’s time to make a move before she goes back to America without you.”
Lacey took a deep breath, unsure if her words would come out. She’d thought he was going to tell her he loved her, not propose. Then as she looked up into those blue eyes, the color of the Swiss sky on a cloudless day, she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, he was the one.
Nodding her head, she smiled up at him. “Yes, I’ll marry you Drake.”
He engulfed her in his arms, pulling her close to him as he kissed her in front of the windows as the snow fell outside. The only sound was the soft music that surrounded them and the crackling fire. Then he pulled back with a look of concern.
“I don’t have a ring for you. It’s not like I knew I’d be proposing today.” He looked a little embarrassed.
“Drake, all I need is you, not a ring or anything else, just you.” Lacey reached up and kissed him again, but this time she let him know how much he meant to her.
Then her cell rang, pulling her out of the moment. She looked down at the screen and made a bad face as she saw the name, Brent. Drake saw the name too and her frown. He knew she loved him, but she’d also loved the man on the other end of that line. She’d been prepared to marry Brent and when she’d came here to Switzerland, her heart was broken. Could he possibly lose her?

Revisiting an old friend!

I had a dream last night…It was about this manuscript…I now know where it’s headed and can’t stop my fingers from typing. As bad as it sounds, this book should have been finished a couple of years ago, but something snapped inside of me and I couldn’t finish it. I lost the story in my head, but in my dream, it all came back.

If you haven’t read the first book in this series, then grab it first. By the way, it’s  on Amazon – https://www.amazon.com/Open-Heart-Alpine-Christmas-Romance-ebook/dp/B00GW6T6AQ I’ve had so many sweet letters about the first book and so many asking for the second. I’m sorry it took me so long to get it back going, but when you lose the focus, you have to step back, or it will be a complete mistake.

So, Lacey’s Choice will be coming soon!

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…

June, the month for weddings!

June Wedding

June is the month for weddings, which means it’s the month for Romance! Now you know I love romance if you’ve spent any time around my blog or books. Of course it’s also the start of summer which gives everyone this wonderful feeling of freedom. I enjoy this time of year when things are relaxed and laid back.

Romance is real, not a myth. There are skeptics out there that say romance only exists in the imagination, but I’m here to tell you it doesn’t. Did you know that the tradition of a June wedding started really long ago? There are many historical reasons why, some not so romantic. Like the one where it says the bride would smell fresher in June since the annual bath time was usually in May or June. (Yeah, I gagged on that one.)

Then you have the weather. What better time to have a wedding then in June. The weather is warm and the pictures are gorgeous with the green grass and trees, even blooming flowers in the background. Sometime when you have a little time, google June weddings. It’s interesting reading about all the meanings behind it.

For me a wedding is romantic any time of the year. My wedding was in February. It was sleeting outside and really cold. But I think it was really romantic and I’ll never forget it. But unfortunately some brides want to forget their wedding days. That’s sad but true.

So let’s keep romance alive. I strive with every book I write to keep romance alive in the hearts of my fans. I’ve even turned some men into romance readers. Maybe it will change someone’s heart, maybe not, but it’s fun trying.

Do you believe in romance?

Problem? No, just a writer…

Have you ever been caught staring at someone? Come on, you know you have. I’m a people watcher. It’s part of being a writer. I’ve been sitting in a crowded room before and noticed someone doing something out of sync with everyone else. Of course then my overactive imagination stitches a story regarding why they’re acting different.

I’ve actually written stories based on people watching. It’s really fun to sit back and watch a couple in love. You wonder what their story is and then you piece it together with your own spin. Maybe they met by chance or have been friends for years and turned the tables. What’s really fun is you don’t know their true story, but your imagination can expand on what the eye sees. If they’re holding hands and giving those cute lovey looks, you can expand on the romance side of the story. Maybe they’re newlyweds or just newly dating. It’s up to your imagination.

I love to watch people in love. Guess that’s why I love weddings. A wedding can fill many pages of your mind. Most of the time I know the person getting married, but I’ve attended weddings where I’m not too familiar with the couple. I can sit and imagine their love story, the engagement and the romance. It’s fascinating really.

So yes, I have a problem, but it’s for a good cause 😉

Sleepy Friday Morning

It’s overcast here in Georgia. The temperatures have been amazing the last couple of days. But today starts a seven day trend of ran, storms and just plain out nasty weather. The overcast darkness makes me sleepy and it’s hard to stay awake.

My night consisted of fighting with the bed for about two hours, then going to the den to curl up in the corner of the couch to read for about thirty minutes (actually read for 2 hours) and then going back to bed and finally drifting off to sleep. For some reason my sleeper was not working last night. Don’t you just hate those nights when you’re sleepy but once your head hits the pillow it goes away.

So this morning may be a pot of coffee instead of just a couple of cups. I have managed to get in about 850 words this morning so I guess that’s a good thing. Of course my current WIP may be one of the reasons I’m having problems sleeping. The characters keep screaming in my head. I’m at a pivotal point in the story and it’s exciting…

So how’s your Friday morning going? I hope you’re planning a fantastic weekend. For me I have a wedding to attend tomorrow and you all know how I love weddings. They inspire me as a romance writer.

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…

Weddings, a romance authors inspiration…

Image

It’s a beautiful day here in Georgia. The sun is shining brightly, the air is clear, and the wind is blowing like a small hurricane. Well, my son had a bass club fishing tournament today so the house is all mine. I actually slept in this morning which is a luxury that I normally don’t indulge in.

Also today is a wedding at our Church. I love weddings. It’s so exciting to see the vows exchanged, the smiles of love, and the promise of forever. So many weddings today end up in divorce. I always say a prayer for the couple and hope that their union will be forever as it should be.

As a romance author I’m finely tuned into the feelings and atmosphere. I try to catch every ambiance and put it into my treasure chest of inspiration. A wedding is so romantic in it’s simplicity or in some cases it’s extreme elegance.

Romance is such an intricate part of our lives. I can’t imagine not having some type of romance in our lives. You may be sitting there thinking that romance is dead, but it’s not. It’s in everything we do, you just have to open up to it. Even the most simple thing is romantic if you’re open to it. My assistant says I could find romance in a bag of frogs 🙂 Well sure, haven’t you ever heard of kissing a frog to find the handsome prince.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. Enjoy the day and remember to stop and smell the romantic roses. Live as though it’s the last day you have.

As always, good writing and May God Bless You…
