As a writer you have to learn from your mistakes. I’ve changed my writing quite a bit since the first published book. I’ve started to slow down the process a little. Now I actually go back every so many pages and edit. Not every time, but some of the time.
I’ve learned to write from my heart and not to try to please everyone. It’s hard to please all the wants of your readers. Sometimes I add a couple of elements that readers request. I even made some changes to one of my older publications to please a couple of readers requests. They just wanted a little extra information on the characters out of curiosity.
It’s been a wild ride this writing gig. I’ve started several blogs and Twitter pages. So, I guess I’ve grown in social media. As I’ve said many times, I’ve never been a social media butterfly. My blog posts have evolved also. I’ve listened to readers and gained a lot of friends and followers through it.
I’ve realized that not everyone is going to like your writing and not everyone is going to like cowboys. Why I don’t know, but that’s ok.
Have you grown as a writer? Do you learn from your mistakes?
Stephanie Hurt lives in Georgia with her husband Tommy and their son Hunter, along with two dogs, Daisy and Jake. When Stephanie is not lost in one of the worlds that she creates, she's an accountant and children's minister. She has been writing the stories that fill her mind since she was a teenager. The moment a story comes into her mind, she's mesmerized and soon she's diving into the story with a cup of hot green tea and a notebook. Before long, the story has bones and is ready for the laptop. She happily types away in the early morning and at night. You can always find her with a notebook full of stories that have yet to come to life. Follow her journey in each of her over 40 published works!
Stephanie Payne Hurt loves to hear from fans and hopes that she's helped them go to another world for at least a while!

I feel like I grow a little each day. It’s funny that every book I write get’s a little, let’s say stronger. I gain a little more courage with each review and grow with each new contact I make. I want to thank you for your encouraging posts. I’ve used a lot of the concepts you write about and hope to one day be able to encouragement you in return as a thanks.
There’s always something I learn from you. 🙂 Today I learned about courage; to write what feels right to me, but not to exclude what others think either.
To tell you the truth, sometimes I do wonder if the readers would respond well to the moves of the story. In the past friends used to prompt me with what they’d like to read in a story. They called me arrogant when I told them, they can write their own if they want the story to move as per their imagination. 😀
Now though, I do understand that it is good to follow your heart but not exactly bad to keep in mind what your readers are looking forward to reading from you.
Thank you. I tried to write what other’s wanted and it just didn’t feel write. If you don’t write mostly from your heart you’re missing out. The readers help me to tweak my work. Good luck…
This design is wicked! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start
my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really loved what you had to say,
and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
