Welcome to Day 19 of the 2nd Annual Romancing September Across The World Blog Tour. I’ve teamed up with Rosie Amber again this year. We’re promoting 30 awesome romance authors in 30 days. Help us out by cross promoting when you can and check out these authors.
Don’t forget to go over to Rosie Amber’s page and check out her page too.
Today my guest author is Nicky Wells and I want to thank her for blogging with me today. Here is a little about her and her book Fallen For Rock.
1) What inspired you to write this book?
My first three books (The ‘Sophie’ Series, aka The Rock Star Romance Trilogy) follows a heroine with a deep and embedded love for rock music in general, and a massive latent crush on a particular rock singer. Sophie adores Dan, even though she’s 28 and in a stable relationship when we first meet her. When Dan crashlands in her life again, she starts questioning what she really wants and what love really is. Over the course of the three books, we see her falling in and out of love with her ‘steady’ boyfriend, nearly get it together with Dan, get married to someone else, and then… well. You’ll have to read the books!
The motivation in this series was palpable from the first page. Sophie’s love for all things rock and all things Dan powered the story all the way through. In Fallen for Rock, I wanted to stand this on its head. I wanted to know how you could bring someone into the world of rock who positively hates the music and thinks it’s just a bit of noise with no skill. Moreover, I wanted to show how music can change your life (and love), and how important it is to be open to new experiences and, just occasionally, to cut loose and do something wild and wonderful. Enter Emily and her transformation!
2) What’s your favourite part of this book and why?
Ooooh good question. I’d have to say probably a scene right towards the end when Emily, in her new incarnation and new job, starts chatting up and twists around her little finger this massively important manager whom she wants to convince to sign Mike’s new band. Honestly, Emily totally ran away with that part of the book and came out with some things that I never dreamed she’d say. I was so proud of her, and it was fabulous fun to write because I really didn’t know how she would wing it!
3) What is your philosophy on writing and life?
I’m going to have to borrow a slogan here (even though I’m the least sporty person you’ll ever meet): JUST DO IT. Life isn’t a dress rehearsal. If there’s something you need to do, do it. Generally you’ll only regret the things you didn’t do, not the ones you did do. Or at least you’ll regret the things you didn’t do more. Same for writing. Nobody writes a perfect first draft, so my philosophy is: just get on with it, and polish it later!
4) Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links
Sophie’s Turn—because it got the story started.
Fallen for Rock—because it’s powerful and sexy!
Sophie’s Encore—because it gives the ending I’ve always wanted!
That’s not to say that Sophie’s Run (the middle book in the Trilogy) and Spirits of Christmas aren’t great books, because they ARE! But you did ask about my favourite babies…
5) What are your goals for this year?
I don’t have particular goals. I want to bring out my Christmas novella and finish a draft of Seven Years, but I’m not wedded to timelines (apart from the novella needs to be out before Christmas, obviously!)
6) If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?
I’m assuming you’re asking advice for aspiring writers here? If so, my advice is this. Don’t think of your writing career in terms of one book, or even one series of books. If you want to be a career author, you need to produce books on a regular basis. That’s not to say you need to write four books a year, but you do need to bring your readers a steady stream of new material. So don’t put all your hopes for instant success and bestsellerdom on your first masterpiece, but consider the publication of your first novel as the first step on what will be a long and lovely journey!

Fallen For Rock
‘A thrilling and delicious story of love and self-discovery woven around a broken romance that will make you turn page after page and cheer to the end.’
Love, life, loyalties. Nothing stays the same when Emily gets drawn into the world of rock.
Glossy and sophisticated professional high-flyer Emily has no time for nonsense such as the rock music her ex-boyfriend Nate adored so much. Yet when she unexpectedly comes into possession of VIP tickets—access all areas—for new rock band phenomenon, MonX, she can’t resist the temptation.
The fateful gig turns into more than one night, and Emily finds herself strangely drawn to this new and unfamiliar glittery world. However, only weeks later, MonX and her own universe fall apart with devastating consequences for all. When MonX lead singer Mike appeals for her help, she reluctantly embraces a new opportunity. But she soon discovers that while she may be a rock chick after all, a groupie she is not… Or is she?
Just exactly where do her loyalties lie? And what direction will her life take now that she’s left behind everything she treasured?
Warning! Fallen For Rock contains some explicit content and strong language that may not be suitable for readers under eighteen years of age.
