Carmen Stefanescu                                                     shadowsofthepastbk

1) What inspired you to write this book?

I accidentally read a small article in a Romanian newspaper about a haunted mountain in England. The souls of two sinners, a nun and a priest who break their vows and elope, can’t find their rest. The tourists visiting that area sometimes hear agonizing moans during the night. That was all. The moment I put down the newspaper I felt that I had to write about them. This is how The Ballad of the Priest and the Nun came to life, first. Later, I felt it was not enough. I felt Genevieve’s story must be presented in detail. And thus I wrote this novel.

2) What’s your favourite part of this book and why?

Genevieve’s. I have an attraction for sad characters.

3) What is your philosophy on writing and life?

Never give up!  Find  a way to make your dreams happen.

 4) Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links

Shadows of the Past, released in December 2012 by Wild Child Publishing, Dracula’s Mistress in the edits stage and Till Life Do Us Part, waiting approval from the publisher.

  5) What are your goals for this year?

To see Dracula’s Mistress released, work the edits on the paranormal mystery and work on the next paranormal romance

6) If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?

Roll with the punch of rejections and stood up and try again. Read! Write! Read and write!

 Shadows of the Past

                       Blurb

The twists and turns in this paranormal tale keep the reader guessing up to the end and weave themselves together into a quest to rekindle love.

Author bio:

Carmen Stefanescu was born in Romania, the native country of the infamous vampire Count Dracula, but where, for about 50 years of communist dictatorship, just speaking about God, faith, reincarnation or paranormal phenomena could have led someone to great trouble – the psychiatric hospital if not to prison.
Teacher of English and German in her native country and mother of two daughters, Carmen Stefanescu survived the grim years of oppression, by escaping in a parallel world, that of the books.

She has dreamed all her life to become a writer, but many of the things she wrote during those years remained just drawer projects. The fall of the Ceausescu’s regime in 1989 and the opening of the country to the world meant a new beginning for her. She started publishing. Poems first, and then prose. Both in English.

Romancing September Across the World – Day 4 – Lizzie Lamb

Welcome to Day 4 of the 2nd Annual Romancing September Across The World Blog Tour. I’ve teamed up with Rosie Amber again this year. We’re promoting 30 awesome romance authors in 30 days. Help us out by cross promoting when you can and check out these authors.

Don’t forget to go over to Rosie Amber’s page and check out her page too. I’ll put the link at the bottom of this post.

Today my guest author is Lizzie Lamb and I want to thank her for blogging with me today. Here is a little about her and her book Boot Camp Bride.

BookCover Boot Camp Bride Lizzie Lamb

  • What inspired you to write this book?

I spend a great deal of time in north-west Norfolk and one day when I was sitting a bench overlooking the marshes the whole story unfolded before me. The heroine, Charlee, had been in my head for ages, begging me to write a novel about with her. As for the delicious, temperamental Rafa – well, how could I resist bringing him to life, too?

  • What’s your favourite part of this book and why?

Hm. Difficult. I enjoyed writing the sparring dialogue between Rafa and Charlee so any of the times when they’re on the page together, really. But I especially enjoyed writing about the first night of their honeymoon when they park the campervan by the Coal Shed in Thornham Staithe because that is a real place and I often visit there and can imagine them in their classic VW Camper van.

  • What is your philosophy on writing and life?

You only get out of life what you put into it. Life is not a rehearsal. I’ve waited a long time to become a published author and I don’t intend to squander a second of it. My target is to write six novels, God willing – three set in Scotland and three in Norfolk. Then I’ll think again and maybe turn to cosy crime. However, it also important to leave space in your life for friends and family, without them our lives are meaningless.

4) Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links

I’ve only written two so far: TALL, DARK AND KILTED http://t.co/xj2T54mE6j

and BOOTCAMP BRIDE http://t.co/0WkwlH8bgg. My third book, working title SCOTCH ON        THE ROCKS, should be out in the new year.

  • What are your goals for this year?

To stay fit and healthy so that I can finish my third novel and then maybe take a break for a month or so before beginning the next one. I want to continue to build and develop my ‘brand’, make a name as a writer and meet lots of lovely new readers.

  • If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?

As far as ‘writerly advice’ goes I’d advise all the rookie writers out there to glue their derrieres to the seat, chain themselves to the desk and get writing. Don’t even begin to think about revisions until you’ve got one (very) rough draft of the novel. Leave it a week or so, if you can bear it, print it out and then slash and burn/and ‘kill your darlings’, editing on paper – not the screen – until you’ve got the bones of a well-crafted novel. I find at this stage it’s useful to write out the blurb before I begin the final edit(s) as it helps me to focus in on what the book is really ‘about’.

book bio/description

Take an up-for-anything reporter.  Add a world-weary photo-journalist.  Put them together . . . light the blue touch paper and stand well back! Posing as a bride-to-be, Charlee Montague goes undercover at a boot camp for brides in order to photograph supermodel Anastasia Markova. At Charlee’s side and posing as her fiancé, is Rafael Ffinch award winning photographer and survivor of a kidnap attempt in Colombia. He’s in no mood to cut inexperienced Charlee any slack and has made it plain that once the investigation is over, their partnership – and fake engagement – will be terminated, too.  Soon Charlee has more questions than answers. What’s the real reason behind Ffinch’s interest in the boot camp? How is it connected to his kidnap in Colombia? In setting out to uncover the truth, Charlee puts herself in danger … As the investigation draws to a close, she wonders if she’ll be able to hand back the engagement ring and walk away from Rafa without a backward glance.

  • What inspired you to write this book?

A little bit of life saving luck.  Shall I tell you about it?  In early 2001, my then-husband’s father died.  A couple of months later Alan suddenly said, out of the blue, ‘get some batteries for the smoke alarm’.  We’d been in our new house about nine months; neither of us had ever looked at the smoke alarm. I don’t think I even knew where it was!  I got some batteries, anyway. That night we went out, and had too much to drink. When we got home I put something under the grill, forgot about it, and went to bed.  I was woken up by the smoke alarm a while later. As it was, we had to get a new cooker and have the kitchen redecorated.  I dread to think what would have happened if I hadn’t heard that alarm (though I did have a houseful of firemen at five in the morning, ladies, so it wasn’t all bad!).  Alan always thought it was his father who put the smoke alarm batteries idea into his head ~ a guardian angel?

  • What’s your favourite part of this book and why?

I love the bits where Sophie finds out how her life would have turned out if she’d chosen one of the other three men, back in 1998.  I love that sort of thing, because I would so love to look back and find out about my own possible parllel lives.   Fascinating, but frightening, too, because you might have missed out on something wonderful – as Sophie finds out.

  • What is your philosophy on writing and life?

People sometime ask me how I find the time to write as many books as I do, but I don’t ‘find the time to write’ – writing is what I do; it’s all the other stuff I have to find time for.

  • Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links

I’ll give the US links as it’s a US blog, Stephanie!

Round and Round – it’s such a neat little story!  http://www.amazon.com/Round-Terry-Tyler-ebook/dp/B00M17PHGW/ref=la_B00693EGKM_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1406098536&sr=1-

Kings and Queens – it’s the book I’m most proud of, by far, and a slightly new direction for me; it’s a modern take on the story of Henry VIII and his six wives.  http://www.amazon.com/Kings-Queens-Terry-Tyler-ebook/dp/B00JX5ZU30/ref=la_B00693EGKM_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1408029747&sr=1-5

Full Circle – I hope I succeeded in writing a stand alone sequel that’s better than the first book.  It’s a rock romance with plenty going on, and it’s quite funny, too!

  • What are your goals for this year?

To make ‘Last Child’ even more enjoyable for my readers than its prequel.  A tall order, because I’ve had amazing reviews for Kings and Queens, for which I am eternally grateful.  Every day I think, oh no, what if people don’t like it???!

  • If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?

Do you mean to new writers?  It would be to understand from the outset that there is so much more to writing good novels and gaining a readership than just thinking of a good story!

Here’s the book description:

Four Valentine cards – from four different men!

Sophie Heron’s fortieth birthday is looming, and she is fed up with her job, her relationship, her whole life – not to mention her boyfriend’s new ‘hobby’, in which she definitely doesn’t want to get involved…

Back in 1998 she had the choice of four men, and now she can’t help wondering how her life might have turned out if she’d chosen differently.

The person to whom Sophie had always been closest was her beloved Auntie Flick, her second mother, friend and advisor. Before her death in 2001, Flick said, “when I’m up there having a cuppa with St Peter, I’ll have a word with him about making me your guardian angel, shall I?”

As Sophie’s fortieth birthday draws near, she visits her aunt’s special place: a tree by a river, hidden from the world. Here she calls on Auntie Flick to show her the way forward – and help her look back into the past so she can see what might have been…

Sonya EB copy

What inspired you to write this book?

Like the other books I’ve written, it came as a scene ‘blip’ and I built the book around it. Which scene? Riley, swinging her legs on the tailgate of her truck.

What’s your favorite part of this book and why?

I’d have to say my favorite part is when Jared’s standing on the other side of the window with a crow bar in his hands. That Jared’s a hoot…love his sense of humor!

What is your philosophy on writing and life?

Writing’s just another form of our active imaginations. We can build and destroy, either or, without nurturing it. So when it’s all said and done…Live your life freely, crazy, passionate, loving FULLY and in the end you’ll have lots of material to work with.

Name your three favorite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links

I’ve written 3 total – All published. So I guess that makes them all my favorites!

The Summer I Fell – will get you the link once it’s live on the 29th 🙂

What are your goals for this year?

I’d like to have the second book of The Six Series published. Fingers crossed!

If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?

Write your story as if it’s for you ,and only you. Those who love your books will either still love your books or they won’t. You can’t please everyone and that’s okay. If you’re doing something you love, you’re making yourself happy. And that’s what counts.

Romancing Across the World Blog Tour 2014 Day 1 – Caroline Stoner

Welcome to Day 1 of the 2nd Annual Romancing September Across The World Blog Tour.

Today my guest author is Caroline Stoner and I want to thank her for blogging with me today. Here is a little about her and her book The Roman.

1) What inspired you to write this book?

I’ve been a voracious reader all my life.  I also have an overactive imagination.  For years I’ve been making up stories in my head and jotting ideas for book plots down on scraps of paper muttering things like “One day I’ll…”  In 2007 my husband went out one afternoon and bought me a laptop.  He gave it to me and said “Now you’ve no excuse.  Write that book.”  It’s taken a lot of hard work to finally get published in 2014, but all the rejections shouldn’t be seen as negatives in my opinion, but stepping stones to your final goal of being published.  But I digress, – this book was inspired by Russell Crowe in “The Gladiator” – ‘nuff said!

2) What’s your favourite part of this book and why?

I love the opening chapter.  It’s full of angst and tension as this is when the hero and heroine meet for the first time after six years of bitterness and anger has festered between them.

3) What is your philosophy on writing and life?

Just do what feels right.  I’m going to admit to being an author who writes when I feel like it.  I have days when the words don’t flow, and on those days I don’t lose any sleep over the fact that I haven’t written anything.  I tend to find that I’m more creative late in the evenings and at weekends, so I fit my writing around those times.  One thing is for sure, all writers are different, and if I compared myself to some of the more prolific authors (Nora Roberts for example) I would freak out.  So I go with the philosophy of “what works for me, works for me!”

4) Name your three favourite books that you’ve written — feel free to list buy links

“The Roman” is my first book.  But I have written another “Roman” and that’s currently with my editor at the moment.  I’m also finishing off a “Viking” romance and I’m thinking of writing a “Regency” romance soon.

5) What are your goals for this year?

I need to edit and “layer in” some emotion into my “Viking” book before it’s ready to be sent out.  I’m also researching everything to do with the Regency period.  My idea of “research” tends to be reading as much of the genre that I can fit onto my Kindle!

6) If you had to give one piece of advice what would it be?

Keep going.  Ignore the rejections.  Ignore the “crows of doubt”.  One day you will be published.

Blurb

ROME AD 79 – The one woman he ever loved was the one woman who betrayed him.
