As we remember…

For America today is a day of remembrance for those lost in the terror attack on September 11, 2001. I’ll never forget the moment I heard about this horrible attack on American soil. The tears I shed that morning were for those lost in such a terrible way, for their families and for America. In that moment I knew we’d never be the same again.

No longer would we be sure of anything. It was the unthinkable and in that frame of mind, we wondered, is it over? I knelt as I held my small son, praying for America and the future of our children that would now live in post September 11th America. We still feel the effect today and it’s always at the back of our minds.

I sat this morning watching the moment of silence on television with tears streaming. The feelings that passed through me were overwhelming. Then as they played taps I thought of all the men that have lost their lives fighting for our safety. We take for granted what they do for us everyday.

Our Nation stood tall after that day and vowed to rebuild. So many heroes arose that day and many more were lost. The number of those lost is staggering.

So, on this day of remembrance for America, please take a moment to give thanks for those men and women that fight for us everyday and a prayer for those we lost on that fateful day. May God bless America!Flag8

  1. No American was ever the same after 9/11. Our country’s perception of inviolability, of relative safety in this crazy world, changed on that tragic day. It was the first bona fide attack by a foreign entity on American soil, and we’re still suffering from the repercussions. Although we must never forget what happened or the people who died, it’s not an anniversary we like to remember.

    Thanks for the post, Stephanie.
